Guest Chef Series: Meet Bal Arneson
As a way to keep our culinary offerings fresh and exciting, we love to collaborate with talented chefs, influences, and innovators to bring new ideas to the table. Recently, FLIK welcomed Food Network and Cooking Channel star and award-winning cookbook author, Bal Arneson, as a celebrity guest chef.
Bal is known around the world for her trademark spice infused cooking and passion for simple, healthy Indian recipes. Growing up in Pubjab, India, Bal learned to cook over the coals of a small clay pit alongside her elders and found a passion for allowing food to be your medicine.
Bal and the FLIK culinary team served up our exclusive Bal Power Bowls including:
- Turmeric Bowl: Packed with roasted vegetables, curried chickpeas, tri-color quinoa, grilled avocado, baby arugula and topped with turmeric tahini sauce
- Sashimi Bowl: Featuring sesame salmon or yellowfish tuna loin sashimi, sushi rice with edamame beans, avocado, mango and topped with sriracha mayo and chopped seaweed
- Chicken Tzatziki Bowl: Packed with brown basmati rice, cauliflower tabbouleh, cucumber feta salad and topped with chicken skewers, feta cheese and tzatziki drizzle
- Ginger Beef Bowl: Basmati rice topped with sauteed roasted peppers, water chestnuts, bean sprouts, baby bok choy, candied ginger, daikon radish and ginger beef flank steak
These nutrient rich power bowls are full of flavorful super food ingredients like kale, spinach, turmeric, ginger, lemon, mango, chickpeas, yams and more.
The FLIK Hospitality Group team and Chef Bal have a long history of collaborating and working together to develop exclusive recipes that promote wellness and healthy eating.

My favorite place is the be in the kitchen creating and testing and tasting our recipes until we have something remarkable. I love working with the FLIK chefs; it's really like coming home when we work together," said Chef Bal.
Bal has three national best selling cookbooks Everyday Indian, Bal’s Quick and Healthy Indian, and Bal’s Spice Kitchen. She has even collaborated on Hollywood menus including The Hundred Foot Journey by Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey, and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
