Latinos Unidos: A Culinary Roundtable in Honor of Hispanic Heritage Month

This year, FLIK’s Entrepreneurial Council and Diversity Inclusion Action Council are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month through the lens of this year’s global theme: “Unidos," Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation. Curated by our own chefs Gustavo Calderon, Rolando Rivera, and Julio Viera these menus honor their own heritage and celebrate Hispanic and Latin cuisine. Our own Elsie LaCourt sat down with the chefs for a brief roundtable conversation to discuss foodie inspiration, leaders and inspiring mentors, and a hysterical debate over which is better: frijoles vs habichuelas.

Kickoff the conversation with a brief chat on who inspired their love for cooking:

When it comes to innovators and role models, our chefs look to groundbreaking chefs and restaurateurs, their own mentors, and their own colleagues as they carve their own legacy in the culinary world. Watch this brief conversation (and take notes on who's who in Latin America):

Each of these chefs has a unique story to share about their own career trajectory, the importance of diversity in kitchens, and what they wish people knew about their culture:
