Cocktail of the Month: Maple Fig "Margarita"
Autumn is here! And while you may be thinking of all things pumpkin spice, there are a ton of seasonal spices and flavors that shouldn't be missed out on.
While autumn may immediate evoke sweet, crisp apples and delicious root vegetables like squash, pumpkins and sweet potatoes, it also is "new wood" season (August-October) for domestic figs in the United States.
Figs are a versatile fruit and can be used in sweet or savory dishes; they're also a good source of potassium, manganese and dietary fiber. Fresh figs can be enjoyed raw, and are particularly delicious served on a charcuterie board alongside salted and smoked meats. They can be grilled or baked and served with chicken or lamb, or even topped with vanilla ice cream for a decadent dessert.
But today's preparation takes advantage of fig jam in liquid form.
Maple Fig "Margarita"
Prepared with Añejo Tequila, the sweetness of the fig jam and maple syrup pair perfectly with the rich vanilla, cinnamon, and oak flavors of the tequila.
Please drink responsibly. Recipe is intended for 21+. Only share with those of legal drinking age.
|1 oz. añejo tequila|
|3/4 oz lemon juice|
|1/2 oz fig jam|
|1/2 oz. Cointreau (triple sec)|
|1/2 oz. maple syrup|
|Club soda, preferably Fever Tree brand|
- Add tequila, lemon juice, fig jam, triple sec and maple syrup to cocktail shaker with ice.
- Shake vigorously and strain into a martini glass.
- Top with Fever Tree Cub Soda & garnish with a fig - fresh or dried.
