Ec Gift Guide 2022

Entrepreneurial Council: 'Shop with Purpose' Gift Guide

One of the most direct and sustainable ways to support Black and Brown communities is to shop at minority-owned businesses, many of which have been disproportionally affected by the coronavirus pandemic. If you're looking for inspiration this holiday season, here are some recommendations from FLIK's Entrepreneurial Council and EC Accelerator cohort:

Minority Owned

Wonky Wicks - Montgomery County, MD

Wonky Wicks are handcrafted, all natural, fragrance & additive-free candles created using soy wax and essential oils that are packaged and poured into repurposed glass bottles. Ali Mulaga is a Black and mixed-race business owner that uses the principle of sustainability and transparency in every product.

  • The Woodman is the perfect marriage of a walk through the woods meets a crackling fire, layered with warm ginger, musky tobacco and rich coffee.

The Lit. Bar - Bronx, NY

The ONLY brick & mortar bookstore in The Bronx, this indie bookstore & wine bar has something for everyone. From courious readers looking for their latest read to social sipping chill time, to community gatherings & guest speakers, this bookstore helps emphasize local interest and promotes diversity for all ages.

With Love, From PDX - Portland, Oregon

This is a Black woman-owned business that curates gift boxes from other local and BIPOC makers, artists, and businesses. Although it's name is Portland-specific, the gifts are universal.

  • Shop the Tinsel Box for seasonal treats curated from the best of Oregon's makers or the Dwell Gift Box filled with kitchen essentials that are perfect for the new homeowner.

Pink Moon

Female-led and AAPI-owned, Pink Moon is a lifestyle and wellness brand of high quality, eco-friendly beauty products.

SPGBK Watches - North Carolina

For all our timepiece collectors, Springbreak Watches are an amazing designer watch company creating beautifully crafted watches that also help support the community. Deeply rooted in the value of education, Springbreak also regularly donates to local teachers and educators to celebrate their role within their respective communities.

  • Checkout the sleek, modern, monochromatic looks and don't sleep on the funky colors like the pink Brentwood, red 71st, and mint green Hay Street.

Ghetto Gastro Presents Black Power Kitchen - Bronx, NY

Ghetto Gastro, a Bronx, NY-based culinary collective, has a new cookbook out that all foodies will love. "Black Power Kitchen" features 75 mostly plant-based recipes shared through unique immersive storytelling and vibrant pictures that celebrate Black food and Black culture, through the lens of a larger narrative about race, food inequality, and self-empowerment. Come for the cornbread, stay for the Chili Lime Pasta.

  • While you're shopping, check out the RGB Wavy pancake and waffle mix. Red Velvet, Toasted Matcha, and Chocolate mix  -- sign us up!

All of Us.Art - Everywhere

Perfect for the littlest artists in our life, these sustainably sourced beeswax, plant wax, and natural earth pigmented crayons ensure diverse representation of skin tones. Made with little hands in mind, each set of 8 represents all of us.
